Sasquatch! 2014

This year, like every Memorial Day Weekend since 2002, there is a music festival at the Gorge in George, Washington.

Thousands of people watch dozens and dozens of musical (and comedic) acts perform for 3 days at the Sasquatch! Music Festival.

Last year, I went.

This was from the first night when OutKast performed.

Pictures can do a few things:
1. Freeze time
2. Spark thoughts about what's different since the photo was taken.
3. Prove you were there

...and I still can't believe I saw OutKast perform live.

Soapbox.

the Mariners—
the 3-time U.S. Open Cup winning Sounders—
the Super Bowl Champion Seahawks—

these are the main sporting attractions in Seattle.*

However, on August 25, 2014, the eyes in Seattler were on the Red Bull Soapbox Race.

That fine Sunday afternoon featured 36 teams racing down Yesler Way in Downtown Seattle's Pioneer Square neighborhood.

The hay bale lined course featured turns, ramps, and jumps complete with a "car wash" of metallic blue streamers at the finish line.

Some went through the wash, while others failed to finish.

I was able to get a spot next to the jump. Even though it was a congested area, I was able to stick out my point and shoot with color print film to snap a couple shots.

These are my favorites from the afternoon.

It's always entertaining to attend a sporting event. Especially when they are unconventional. Loud cheering from sporting events will always give me goosebumps.

*note: I miss the Sonics—forever and always...until we get back what is rightfully ours.

Photographs were taken on Fuji Pro 400H film with an Olympus Stylus Epic.
