Goodbye Friends & Family.

One of my favorite Seattle bands, Friends & Family, recently decided to bid farewell.

They played their last show on September 21st at Barboza in Capitol Hill.

I first saw them about 3 years ago in Ballard at the Tractor Tavern and was blown away.

At the time a friend of mine was in the band, and since then I've become friends with a few of the members.

Their last show was themed as if it were a wake. In between songs, a member of the band would share their favorite moment being part of the band. As always, they dressed accordingly: all in black. However, there was an appearance of a gold-glitter-filled-beard.

Although Friends & Family is no more, I know that some of its members are already involved with new projects. Stay tuned...

In the meantime, here are a few of my favorites from that night.

Shitbat.

Zac is an artist. Some may know him as Shitbat.

I met Zac almost 4 years ago.

His sister is a good friend of mine and they came to one of my art shows in Ballard.

As I'm starting to shoot more photos again, I wanted to take photos of Zac working on his art. These days Zac has been working on wood and cutting it out.

I spent a Saturday afternoon with Zac and his friend and fellow artist Lando.

Below are some of my favorite images from that afternoon—plus a teaser for Zac's Show of Hands contribution.

These photos are obviously in black and white. Why? Because although I'm taking pictures of their art work and sharing it with you, I don't necessarily want to take away the experience of seeing their work in person.

However, you can see their work online.
